Photo License Plates - 'Cropping' Your Photos
  • ...This   is a demonstration of how to 'crop' a picture.  'Cropping' is done rather than resizing because resizing causes distortion in the resulting image.  If you took a picture at the standard size of 4" x 3" and resized it to 4" x 2" (the proportions of a license plate), the resulting picture would be funny looking - everything would be compressed together - like someone had stepped on the picture.  But if you cut out the significant portion of the picture, i.e. cut out 1/2" off the top and 1/2" off the bottom, leaving the picture still 4" wide, but only 2" tall.  This would be perfect for a Photo License Plate.  See the demonstration below for more details.  Click here for more details and to learn even more.
